      The Role – Software Engineer Intern:
      As a Software Engineer Intern, you will work alongside highly motivated and talented individuals, designing, solving and testing complex coding problems that will deliver solutions to our trading tools and risk applications. These distributed real-time systems will require you to have a proven understanding of computer science concepts, software development skills and methodology, and effective communication and teamwork abilities. Your internship at CTC will expose you to the design and implementation of these systems, which will allow you to build upon your technical skillset.  There are a variety of languages you could get experience working with including (but not limited to):  Java, C++, Python, Angular, and Groovy.  Software development cycles at CTC are short and releases of proprietary software are frequent. This is a fast-paced and dynamic team environment where our engineers quickly see the results of their effort, and the impact that work has on our businesses.
       
      What you can expect:
      Beyond your role in CTC’s Technology business, the internship program gives you insight into our culture and an inward look into what our business is all about. You will participate in two classroom learning experiences including a week-long Basics of Options class, and a series of trading simulations (Mock Trading). You will also attend planned social activities and talks from various business leaders to improve your professional growth, and build not only your network with our employees, but also with fellow interns.
      • You will get hands-on experience with and exposure to our trading technology
      • You will work in an impactful role mirroring that of a full-time Associate Engineer
      • You will have weekly one-on-one meetings with your manager to ensure you are progressing and learning throughout the program
      • You will receive one-on-one mentorship from a member of our software development team
      • We place a strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration built through various educational and social activities
      • We provide summer housing with your fellow interns in downtown Chicago
       
      What it takes for you to be successful:
      • You have a foundation in data structures, object-oriented programming, and algorithms, and can apply them to real-world problems
      • You have an interest in learning about options trading, pricing and risk management. No prior knowledge or experience in finance is needed.
      • You thrive in a team-based environment filled with motivated and driven people that value a healthy work-life balance
      • You have a demonstrated record of success (academics, awards, etc.)
      • You can effectively communicate ideas that showcase your analytical skills
      • You seek constructive feedback to grow your capabilities
       
      Key requirements:
      • You are pursuing a BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a similar field with Java, C++, or Python experience
      • You expect to graduate between December 2020-June 2021
      • You have a demonstrated record of success (academics, awards, etc.)
      • You are willing to relocate to Chicago, IL for the summer
      • You are either eligible to work in the United States with no restrictions or you are eligible to work in the United States temporarily/will require visa sponsorship for permanent authorization

      Our process:
      • Following the application process, you will receive an online assessment to test your programming skills. The assessment will be sent out to you the Thursday after you submit your application, so you have the weekend to complete it.
      • Based on your assessment results, you may be invited to a first-round interview on campus or over the phone (if we are not interviewing on your campus). You will be notified about your first-round interview status in early to mid October.
      • Final round Super Day interviews will be held in our Chicago office from Friday afternoon, November 1st to Saturday, November 2nd. We will contact you on October 25, 2019 about your candidacy for the final round.
